Hi everybody, my name is J.D. Houvener. I’m the founder and owner here at Bold Patents Law Firm. I wanted to announce the big winner of our Young and Bold scholarship today. We’ve got three winners actually this year. We’ve received over 100 applicants from excited, compassionate high school students from all around the state of Washington this year and we selected just three of the winners – those that are most innovative, have the most interesting project that they’ve either started or have conceived that will lead to major community impact.
I wanted to share with you a little about the flyer that we had up for this year and the program we had set up is our first time offering it. We’re really excited for what we’ll bring in 2019. So the high school students were to submit an essay between 750 and 1000 words. The essay was to articulate a certain project that they felt really drove them to succeed in their academic and in their impact in the community at large.
We heard some really neat stories, ways that you know, potentially solving really big issues such as homelessness, you know racial divides, you know income issues, other societal problems, and definitely some issues within the classroom whether it be medicinal or even you know pharmaceutical and when it comes to even depression right, some of the difficult situations.
So we wanted to share with you of course the winner today of this. We had all the applications were submitted by May 31st of this year. So it took us a while to read through all those applications but eligibility is pretty straightforward – just have to be an active high school student in the state of Washington and have an acceptance letter from a university.
So without further ado, I want to announce Allison McIntyre out of Federal Way. She’s at the high school called TAF ATSA Holly again like I said in the Federal Way School District. So congratulations to Allison McEntire. Take a look at her school really brief, they want to do a brief introduction. This is a great school right? This is a exclamation mark on their very first year in existence right as our very first year ever is part of the technology access fund. It’s a grant put together in efforts to increase the STEM – as TM the science technology engineering and mathematics emphasis in the schools around the state of Washington. So it’s really neat. Take a look at their website, a lot of good information. They’re doing wonderful things down there in Federal Way.
So without further ado, I’m gonna be sending a check to Allison’s University. She’s gonna go into Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She has a check for $1,000. So again, congrats to Allison and hope you all enjoyed this update.
