JD: Our first guest today is Dr. B Curtis Breville. Welcome to the show!
Dr. Breville: Hi, pleasure to be here.
Matt: Hi, Dr. B. Nice to meet you.
JD: So, you’ve come up with an elixir, and we spoke a few weeks ago. I haven’t actually got to try it, but I was hoping I could get a chance. Can you hold it up for me?
Dr. Breville: Sure. Here it is.
JD: Great. So, tell us about this elixir. What does it do?
Dr. Breville: It can prevent or immediately stop the pain caused by spicy foods
JD: After consumption.
Dr. Breville: You can spray it in your mouth before consuming spicy food. You’ll still taste the heat, but the pain that usually comes with it is gone.
Matt: Perfect for hot wings or hot takes!
Matt: Hot Ones, right?
Dr. Breville: Exactly!
JD: Give us an update. What’s going on with your business currently? What are you working toward? What’s exciting with Dr. B Elixir?
Dr. Breville: Along with constant marketing, we’re pioneering the first-ever product of its kind. There’s a lot of skepticism since nothing like this has existed before. Converting skeptics into believers is a full-time job. Meanwhile, it’s an over-the-counter, all-natural product originally designed for spicy food pain relief. Interestingly, it’s also been effective against burning mouth syndrome, providing relief to 100% of those who’ve tried it, some suffering for years.
JD: Wow, that’s impressive. I’ve seen testimonials—it really works. Conquering skepticism must be your biggest challenge, especially with such a unique product category.
Dr. Breville: Absolutely. It’s a new frontier—a consumable that’s not quite food, almost like a medicine—an elixir.
JD: And something I didn’t know until I tried it and others did too—spicy food pain isn’t just in the mouth; it can cause discomfort afterward, shall we say, in the digestive tract.
Dr. Breville: Yes, it also provides relief there by binding to receptors, reducing or eliminating post-spice discomfort.
JD: Very interesting. Let’s talk about intellectual property. Have you protected this through patents or trademarks?
Dr. Breville: Yes, there are three pending utility patents for the compounds that provide pain relief. Each focuses on a different aspect of its use. I’m protecting it comprehensively.
JD: That’s great to hear. How’s the progress with the patents? Are you optimistic?
Dr. Breville: One patent is pending more information. I opted for a micro-business approach due to limited funds between jobs when I developed it. It’s exciting, but waiting for updates can be nerve-wracking.
JD: Understandable. Patience is key. Have you considered trademarks for your brand?
Dr. Breville: Not yet. I launched the brand recently and am aware of the first-to-file principle. I believe I have time, but I should look into it soon.
Matt: You can file a trademark anytime, unlike patents. We should discuss that further.
Dr. Breville: Absolutely.
JD: Well, thank you for joining us, Dr. B. Would you mind if I share your email address for viewers interested in reaching out?
Dr. Breville: That’s fine.
JD: It’s [email protected].
JD: Thank you again for being here, Dr. Breville.
