Hey there, Princeton!
I’m JD Houvener with Bold Patents, and if you’re an inventor or entrepreneur in the Princeton, New Jersey area—this is for you.
Let’s talk about five local resources you really should know about. Whether you’re still in the idea stage or ready to launch, these can help you get moving.
1. SOSV (Save Our Souls Ventures)
Don’t let the name throw you—it’s actually one of the most active venture funds out there. They focus on health, climate, and hard tech. Think clean energy, biotech, and real-world science. They back 200+ startups every year, with a massive $1.5 billion portfolio. A lot of the tech they support comes straight out of university labs and into the real world. If you’re working on something science-heavy, give them a look.
2. Tigerlabs
This one’s more than just a co-working space. It’s a launchpad. You’ll find other inventors and startups, and if you’re lucky, maybe even a seed investment. A local success story? Enosi Surgical started here—they make precision tools for cancer surgery. Now they’re thriving.
3. Princeton Innovation Center Biolabs
Another strong option. It’s kind of a mix between office space and a startup incubator, with plenty of technical and business support. Ideal for companies spinning out of research labs and trying to make it in the market.
4. E-Base Incubator
Located in Princeton, this group helps startups with an environmental focus. One standout company—Kerban—came out of here. They’re working on ways to track and reduce environmental damage from construction and industry. Smart stuff.
5. Princeton’s Kahneman-Treisman Center
Named after Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman, this center looks at how human behavior affects policy. If your invention ties into behavioral science, public policy, or decision-making, you’ll want to connect here.
That’s the local rundown. Five solid places to explore, partner with, or even join.
