Patent Attorney and Founder

Everybody, I’m J.D. Houvener, your host of the Bold Today Show, where you, the inventor, entrepreneur, or business owner, get your daily dose of inspiration so you can make the world a better place. We’re in part two of our series, helping startups and focusing on our book, “Bold Ideas: The Inventor’s Guide to Patents,” and how you can use this book to move your business to the next level.

Today we’re guest errday, excuse me, we talked about disclosure, making sure you’re not gonna run up against that terrible one-year grace period and being able to lose rights altogether. Let’s say you’ve gotten past that hurdle. What’s the next step? It is the patentability search opinion, and I want you to go to chapter eight and read through this book with the electronic version that’s available at boldpatents.com to get a lot more information. I’m gonna give you a couple teasers here today.

A patented body search opinion done by an attorney, a patent attorney, is the real deal. It’s what’s gonna give you the answers to your question on how different is my invention from my competitors, whether I can actually see patent protection for this invention, right? Is it even eligible under 35 USC 101, and does it have the right non-obviousness criteria? Is there another invention or another product already on the market that’s so similar that it would point to another version, or there’s a trend toward moving toward your version of the invention?

These are answers that a patent agent is not gonna give you an answer on. A patent search company is not gonna help you out with. These are the questions we come will be helping answer all the day all the time, and it’s not necessarily getting all the best results, and mind you, we certainly do our best effort to get you that. It’s the legal opinion, right? It’s someone that’s been there and done that, who understands court law and case law, and looks at what juries say and what judges’ opinions are on certain cases. That’s the kind of opinion you need.

More on top of that, not just the opinion for your business, but for any investors, right? Anyone else that might want to come into your business with funding or with mentorship guidance. Those third parties are going to want to see that you’ve done the diligence, you spent the money, and spent the time to go seek out a professional to get you an opinion on your invention. That’s what a patent search opinion will do for you. It will give you that leverage in the market and make sure you tell everyone else you’re serious about this, and you’re gonna make the best business decision on whether you invest money to move forward into the patent process or not.

If you have any questions about technology patents, moving forward with a design patent, or the search process at all, please go to our website at boldpatents.com and book a free 30-minute consultation.
