Patent Attorney and Founder

Hey there. Welcome to our Bold Patents page for Gilbert, Arizona. I’m JD Houvener. I started Bold Patents, and I’m the patent attorney here.

I’m glad you found this page. If you live in Gilbert, you’re in a good place to build something new. When I first looked into the local resources, I was shocked by how much there was. I cut the list down to my top five. These are the spots I’d send any inventor or tech founder.

I’ve talked with inventors for more than ten years. Most tell me the same thing. It feels lonely. You’re trying to learn design, find a maker, understand the law, and build a business… all at once. It’s a lot. And doing it alone can wear you down.

That’s why meeting other people helps. Owners. Makers. Builders. Folks going through the same thing. Some you meet in person. Others online. Both matter.

Here are the five places I think you should check out.

1. The Catalyst
This is my top pick. It’s Gilbert’s main business hub. They have mentors, classes, tools, and a space where people work and meet. They even have studios where you can make content. It’s a place where you can sit down with someone, share a problem, and feel heard. And sometimes that’s all you need. A quick talk with someone who has been there.

2. The Works
This is a coworking and incubator space. You can get an office, a room to meet in, or even just a place to get mail, for early business owners, having a real address feels huge. You can host a small event, run a workshop, or meet clients. One quick note: if your idea might be patentable, please talk with a patent attorney before you share it in public. You want to file first so you can keep your rights.

Also, many inventors forget to set up a simple company. An LLC works for most folks. If you have a partner, you will want an agreement. We can help with the patent side and point you to a business lawyer in Gilbert who can help with the rest.

3. The Gilbert HUB (digital platform)
This is the online side of Gilbert’s support network. It’s open all day, every day. You can find tools, videos, and people who know the local rules. If you want to stay on top of zoning updates or local laws, this is where to look. Think of it as the digital arm of The Catalyst.

4. Business Accelerator Gilbert
This program offers planning tools and simple guidance for money and growth. It gives you a clearer picture of where you stand and what steps to take next. It’s helpful if you feel stuck or need a plan you can follow.

5. Gilbert Chamber events
Nothing beats getting out and meeting people face-to-face. Go to a talk. Join a mixer. Tell someone your idea in two or three minutes. The more you say it out loud, the better it gets. You’ll meet folks who are building in totally different fields, and you’ll still learn from them.

If you have questions about patents, trademarks, copyrights, or trade secrets, book a free call on this page. We can walk you through the next step.

I’m JD Houvener. Thanks for being here. Have a great day. Go big. Go bold.
