Patent Attorney and Founder

Hey, let’s talk about Mesa, Arizona.

I’m JD Houvener, founder and patent attorney at Bold Patents Law Firm. Mesa has a strong community of inventors and business owners, and I want to share five local resources that can help you take your idea from sketchpad to startup.

If you’re just starting out, don’t forget, you can grab our free Inventor Kit or book a free discovery call with us. That way, you’ll know what to protect and when before you go public with your idea.

Alright, here are my top five Mesa resources for inventors and entrepreneurs:

1. LaunchPoint (Mesa Technology Accelerator)
City-backed and located downtown, LaunchPoint offers workspace, mentorship, and training. Startups like Prenda, an edtech company that raised nearly $50 million, got their start here.

2. Mesa Chamber of Commerce
More than networking, the Chamber provides workshops and mentorship for businesses in every sector. A good example is BigTime Software, now with over 170 employees, which began here in Mesa.

3. Maricopa SBDC (Small Business Development Center)
Funded by the SBA but run locally, the SBDC offers free expert mentorship for anyone starting a business. Skybridge Arizona, a healthcare AI company, came through their program.

4. Chef Shared Kitchen
Perfect for inventors working on food or kitchen-related products. It’s an incubator space for culinary startups. One company that grew here, Shift3 Technologies, started in food tech but now branches out into other areas.

5. Green Flag Mesa Business Center
Focused on student-led startups, this program provides office space and mentorship. Able Aerospace Services began here and now supports the aviation industry with aircraft maintenance.

Those are five great places to check out if you’re in Mesa and ready to grow your idea.

If you’re not sure when or how much to share with these programs, reach out to us first. We’ll help you protect your idea with the right filings before you go public.

I’m JD Houvener with Bold Patents. Thanks for joining me today, and remember.

Go big. Go bold.
