“What’s the average cost of having a patent attorney file your patent and do a search?” Great question. Average cost… I actually haven’t done a market survey, I’ll just tell you some of our fees. Okay, so for a patentability search with a legal opinion and patent application all bundled, you’re looking at about $10,000. Sometimes for simpler inventions, it can be a little less, for more complicated inventions, it might be a bit more. That’s to get patent pending. The search cannot be skipped, especially if you’re inventing in an area that you’re familiar with or unfamiliar with. You need to know what else already exists before you leap and spend that $5,000-$10,000 more to get patent pending.

There are lots of other services out there, and I encourage you to go shop around, check with other firms, make sure it’s a good fit. Most clients that like working with us enjoy the fact that we’re right there with you. We’re educating you along the way. You’re not going to miss anything in terms of communication. We’re on the ball. We’re fully virtual. We’re looking… It’s not old-style, right? No brick-and-mortar where you’re stuck in waiting rooms or parking lots trying to meet with an attorney. We meet you where you’re at.
