hi I’m JD Houvener and welcome to the bold Today Show were you the inventor and entrepreneur get your daily inspiration for how to make the world a better place let’s go to today’s challenge your challenge today is to think about your product that you’ve come up with right you’re an innovator think about your competition how are your consumers you know let’s fast-forward to your and your products are actually on the market where are they currently buying their products today okay and that is your competition spend 15 minutes research that competition and understand their products go on their website and you’ve got the guts do some mystery shopping and check out to see how they’re selling what you’re gonna be competing with down the line for today’s invention topic and patent topic we’re gonna focus just on that what makes you different from your competition and that’s what it’s all about when you write a patent application when you do a thorough patentability search and you understand exactly what it is you’ve got the functionality and how it separates yourself from what’s already out there that’s what you get to focus on in your specification of the patent application go into the law section today it’s 35 USC one 1/2 that section 112 this is the written description requirement the main part of this is about the spec ok what’s required for you to have an enabled application and you’ve got to touch on what makes the invention work and tell it you know such a way that someone like you could go make it and build it that’s really the bottom line when it comes down to enable meant that’s the law alright now here’s the challenge on the back end you’ve got the difference you’ve spent the time and done the research now take your invention to someone that’s a call a person any person in society someone you might know a best friend give them your invention describe it to them ok in confidence and have them give you a list of how they view all the differences right how does your invention separate itself from what’s already out there in the cup see what that list makes the same as yours thanks for listening to the bolt today show I’m your host JD Houvener have a great day go big go
