Michael Dodd has extensive experience in patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights. Michael has worked with a range of clients including large corporate entities, startups, and individual inventors. His technical and legal experience makes him highly qualified to draft and prosecute patent cases for clients in computer software, computer hardware, mechanical, telecommunication, electronics, circuitry, and semiconductor fields.

Michael has drafted and filed nearly 1000 original U.S. patent applications and also prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in the United States. He has extensive experience in interview practice before the U.S. Patent Office and often meets with examiners telephonically and in-person during U.S. prosecution. Michael also has extensive experience prosecuting patent applications in foreign jurisdictions, primarily in Europe and Asia.

Michael has also drafted and assisted with the preparation of opinions as well as provided support for litigation matters. He has participated in negotiating and drafting licensing and other types of technology transfer agreements.

Michael has trained many patent attorneys in drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, conducting examiner interviews, and drafting substantive letters to foreign counsel. He serves as a New Lawyer Mentor for the Utah State Bar.
