Hey inventors, entrepreneurs, and business owners, welcome to Bold Patents Fort Worth!
I’m JD Houvener, founder and patent attorney here at Bold Patents Law Firm. If you’re building something new here in Fort Worth, I’ve got five local spots you need to know about.

1. TechFW
This is a nonprofit startup accelerator based right here in Fort Worth. They run a 12-week program called ThinkLab, great for early-stage inventors.
Yes, they lean a bit toward healthcare and biotech, but don’t let that stop you. If you’ve got a solid idea, you’re welcome to apply.
What they offer:
- Mentorship
- Investor pitch practice
- Real guidance from people who’ve done it before
Some recent startups from TechFW? Acuate Therapeutics and AUS Research, both working on cutting-edge treatments for serious diseases.
And here’s what I love: it’s nonprofit. Many mentors are donating their time because they care. That’s rare.
2. Techstars – Physical Health Accelerator (Fort Worth)
You may have heard of Techstars; it’s national. But this branch is focused on physical health and partners with the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
If you’ve got a health-related product, this is a chance to get investment and hands-on support.
They don’t just throw money at you and walk away. They give:
- Business coaching
- Product development support
- Help build a real team
It’s competitive, so be ready to apply with a strong plan.
3. Capital Factory
Part coworking space, part startup accelerator, Capital Factory brings people together. Based in Texas, their Fort Worth space helps startups connect with:
- Investors
- Mentors
- Customers
Being around others who are building things? That can spark big ideas. One cool startup from there is Swivel (yep, without the “E”); they’re streamlining self-storage facilities with smart automation.
If you miss real, in-person collaboration, Capital Factory might be your spot.
4. Create FW
This incubator is tucked near the Southside District and supports everything from wellness products to tech.
Their vibe? Collaborative. Supportive. Creative.
A recent example is Enzo Apothecary, which makes natural skincare and offers holistic health services. So don’t think you have to be in biotech or software to join, cosmetics, apparel, art, all welcome.
5. Health Wildcatters
Okay, this one’s based in Dallas, but it serves the whole DFW area. If your invention has anything to do with health or medicine, check it out.
They offer:
- Seed funding
- Mentorship
- Direct access to health industry pros
One company that started here is Ivance, which focuses on new tools for eye care. If you’re in the health space, this accelerator could give you the edge you need.
These are just five. There’s more out there, but this list should help you get started.
