Hi everyone, I’m J.D. Houvener, and welcome to the Bold Today Show, where you, the adventurer, entrepreneur, and business owner, get your daily dose of inspiration to make the world a better place. This week, we’re going to talk about your dreams – make them big. In today’s lesson, your challenge is to write down as clearly as you can what your goal is. Keep in mind that you’ve got to be clear about your goal. Don’t just write about some pie-in-the-sky twenty-million-dollar-a-year salary or bonus. It’s gotta be clear.
Think of one of my mentors, author Napoleon Hill, who studied many successful folks in the 20th century. In his book, “Think and Grow Rich,” he emphasized the concept of definite purpose. That’s your challenge today – to write down in as much detail as you can what your goal is. Describe all the different features, the granular details, and take ten to fifteen minutes to write it out.
Today, we’re going to talk about chasing your dreams and reaching the goal in the patent world – that’s monetization, baby, making money. In this five-part series, we’re going to talk about how you make money in the patent world. This first lesson is about the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). PTAB is one way that an examiner can get overruled by an appeal from an inventor represented by an attorney. It’s also the forum where a patent holder will be up against the defense in trying to uphold their patent as valid against the current laws.
The PTAB, created by the American Invents Act in 2011, allows this administrative body to have judicial authority over patent documents. They arbitrate over four main areas: appeals, trial, covered business methods, and derivation proceedings.
