We’re talking about all the steps that are needed to help you file that patent application. We’re here in step 7, learning about how we also need to describe not just our own invention but how we have a competitive advantage over other prior art or other things out there in the world that are solving similar problems that your invention solves. So yeah, we’ve spent all this time talking about our own invention. It’s now time to really do a deep dive and explore how it is that your invention is different and solves the problems that are unmet, right, that are still lingering out there today.
So, dig in, have some fun. I listed out some of the requirements that are needed to hit. You can think about in terms of your prior art, right? Make sure not to actually put those two words in your application but to think about the ways that your invention solves a problem in a different way, provides unique functionality, and is able to do that maybe at a cheaper, more efficient way. And on top of that, you can include the potential efficiencies, whether it’s price point or if it’s marketability, the usefulness, and the other tangential things, right? Not just the technical true efficiency but the fact that it’s going to be easier. Talk about some of the selling points; that counts too. So, don’t miss out on some of those more business-y terms that all need to be described here and what makes and sets your invention apart.
Now it’s going to get the customer in a place where they weren’t before. Right, make the world a better place. So that section is wrapped up. I think you can handle it within two to three paragraphs.
