Hi everyone I’m JD Houvener your host of the bold today’s show where you the inventor entrepreneur or business owner use your daily inspiration so you can make the world a better place [Music] happy Thursday everybody we’re talking about the cannabis right the cannabis industry and today I’m talking about the plant variety Protection Act that’s the United States version of the plant varieties it’s a alternate route to seeking protection for novel plants vines and trees shrubs that have been cultivated right whether in a lab or some cultivated setting outdoor that that have not decided to move forward with with the utility patent round what’s different about the plant variety Protection Act is that it does allow the type of plant called a tuber and a great example of a tuber plant is a potato something that grows underground right carrots or another tumor so these types of plants can be protected you know for up to 20 years through this plant variety Protection Act the the specimens right the examples of your invention the plant that you grow grew the they’re much higher standard with the PVPA and so with this you have to supply 3,000 seeds of your variety and 3,000 cultured specimen and with that you’ll be able to supply enough to where they’ll do enough samples of their own to verify the uniqueness and so I want to make sure that anybody out there that’s creating new plants especially in a marijuana plant there’s a lot of different varieties out there I would I would wager to bet that this is a probably the number one plant variety this being sod for registration through the PVPA if you have any questions about this process please give us a call at
