Happy Monday to everybody! This past weekend must have been fun getting together with family and friends. It’s always a good time for us too. We get to share some time and think about coming together as a family and our plans for the next year.
This week, I wanted to share some interesting news about the technology world in outer space. One of my big mentors is Elon Musk; he’s my favorite CEO of all time. He has put together and published an article that just got published last week, which he shared with the International Astronomical Congress in 2017. This detailed plan is about ferrying 100 passengers, public people, from Earth to Mars and back. It’s a fantastic endeavor, and the article details a ton of information. I just wanted to mention that to inspire us this week to talk about space, technology, and some of the inventions that have been published on how to make that happen.
The first example is a patent that I found today on this amazing resource that I wanted to let you in on: NASA. NASA is a big government entity, and they have tons of research. I found that they have a public domain site, and the URL is technology.NASA.gov/publicdomain. Check it out; it’s amazing. I went on there, looked up some recent patents, and found this one – 7,904,436. This patent was issued just about seven years ago in 2011, so it has nine years of life left. NASA decided to give it up to the public domain for the betterment of society. They want others outside of their organization to innovate. It’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone innovating in space, space-related materials, technology, propulsion, and more.
This patent is about propulsion technology, and we’re going to be talking about it over the next four days. I look forward to discussing it with you.
