Hello, everyone, and welcome to Bold Patents. I’m J.D. Houvener, managing partner, and CEO here. On behalf of the whole team, congratulations on making that big decision to protect and bring to market your visionary idea. For booking that consultation, you have taken that big first step. We’ve helped hundreds of inventors over the years to bring an idea to patent, granite rock-solid patent protection. So, I know you’ve made the right decision by working with us.
I see so many people that don’t take action and that later, years later, say, “Oh, there’s my product on the store shelves at Walmart.” Right, watch it. I left Boeing for much the same reason, right? For wanting more, for being different, for just not fitting into that corporate hierarchical bureaucratic style. I left a cushy aerospace engineer job and chased my dream to become a patent attorney. It wasn’t easy, believe me, but the struggle was worth the reward. That whole story is for another day.
I want to talk to you about three important things about your upcoming consultation that you must take note of. Number one, confirm the appointment on your calendar. Make sure that it’s on the day and time you thought it was. Make sure you’re clear and on top of that. Make sure you’re going to be sitting down distraction-free. This is your time to work on your invention. This is your baby. Take it seriously. Take a minute to pause this video, all right, and check your calendar right now. I’m serious. Thank you for taking the time to do that.
Number two, sign the confidentiality agreement. This is our acknowledgment of the duties that us as patent attorneys are already held to, okay? We are sworn to confidentiality with you, so please take your time and read through that. Get it signed before the consultation.
Third and last but not least, be prepared and get excited. This is your time to shine. This is your invention. We’re going to talk about everything there is about your invention and beyond, help you understand the next step to move forward with your product. We’re going to be offering a lot of information as we move forward, but before the consult, you can do your own diligence and read the Bold Ideas, the Inventor’s Guide to Patents book should be in your email inbox right now. That’s going to give you the full guide on what patent law is even about, what the differences are between patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
If you have any questions, I want to open it up for you to respond to this email, and I’ll personally respond myself. Have a great day, everyone, and thank you again for joining the Bold Patents team. Go big, go bold.
