Patent Attorney and Founder

Hi everyone, my name is J.D. Houvener , owner and managing partner at Bold IP Law Firm. It’s my pleasure to be with you here today to go over one of our latest blog articles, and before we do, a quick intro on the law firm.

We are both an IP and intellectual property boutique firm, meaning we’re specialists. We don’t handle a lot of civil litigation, tax, immigration, or general practice. We specifically focus on intellectual property, and within that, mainly on helping inventors and business owners move forward with their inventions to the marketplace. We also assist them in building their brands and trademarks, along with copyright in our firm.

We have attorneys who are specialists not only in their technology discipline but also have experience in business and the industry. So, they’re going to be able to work with you, understand your problems, and the solutions that you’ve come up with. So really, not only get to know them but help sort of be a partner with you as you move forward in protecting your intellectual property.

If you would go to our website at boldip.com, there’s a ton more really good information. We’ve got our publications, both patent, trademark, and some copyright on there as well, and some good information about each of our attorneys. Still on our homepage, we’re giving away a copy of our blog that I published just last year, “Bold Ideas: The Inventor’s Guide to Patents.” It’s a quick read for any inventor or anyone you might know that’s inventing to get all the answers to those questions that are top of mind.

Alright, well before we take too much time, let’s jump into this blog article that’s all about Bitcoin. Alright, perfect info from our website at boldip.com – go to the news tab and under the Bold Blog, we’ve got an article that just got released today, written by one of our patent attorneys out of Chicago, Derek Clemmons. Derek, with his article on a very pressing and urgent emergence on cryptocurrency, and I’m sure you’ve all heard of this, but maybe not necessarily know all the inner workings and how it actually can be potentially protected under intellectual property law.

Derek does a good job explaining the technology here in this article, what it is, how it differs between Bitcoin and blockchain, yeah, how it fits in potentially with other cryptocurrencies, and then lays out the law as it is today regarding software and those sorts of intangible inventions that are hard to get a hold of. So it’s a really interesting article. Staying abreast of these types of currencies is essential. There are a lot of things in place, such as market influences to invest or whether dealing in this might actually be inadvertently doing transactions with criminals. So if you want to read more about this, please go to our Bold Blog at boldip.com. I look forward to hearing from you in your social media posts. Have a great day. Go big, go bold.
