Tom LaGrandeur is a registered patent attorney who greatly values assisting innovative businesses and individuals in establishing and protecting their intellectual property. To that end, he ensures he understands the needs of clients and works to achieve optimal results in strategically developing and protecting intellectual property assets.
Tom’s legal and technological background includes biotechnology patent law coupled with work on a wide range of technologies. He has an in-depth understanding of drug, medical device, and nutraceutical research and development. Drawing on his experience of managing IP portfolios for individuals to multinational corporations, Tom provides clients with thorough advice on intellectual property assets and ensures those assets align with business objectives. His patent services include patent search opinions, freedom to operate analyses, patent drafting, comprehensive support from patent application filing to patent grant, and establishment of patent portfolios commensurate with business development and goals.
Prior to joining Bold Patents IP, Tom held positions in law firms, corporations, and technology transfer. His in-house counsel experience includes attorney positions in the pharmaceutical, orthopedic medical device, and nutraceutical industries.
Tom’s scientific background includes positions as a postdoctoral scientist at Scriptgen Pharmaceuticals and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute/University of Arizona. He has co-authored numerous scientific publications in the fields of molecular biology and biochemistry.
Tom received his J.D. with honors from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law; Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Indiana University, and his B.S. in Chemistry/Biology from Western Washington University. Tom is admitted to the Indiana State Bar and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
