Shaukat Karjeker

Shaukat Karjeker is a registered patent attorney who is excited about technology and enjoys successfully protecting the innovations of individual inventors and businesses.  With over 30 years of legal experience coupled with an MBA, Shaukat appreciates the importance of strategic planning to protect innovations and brands.  His expertise covers all aspects of patent and trademark counseling, procurement, and litigation.

Shaukat’s technical expertise has extended to diverse fields of technology over the years, including but not limited to: chemical (polymers, catalysts, coatings, soaps, detergents, food and food additives, oil & gas related items, paper and pulp, environmental technologies); pharmaceuticals (small molecule chemistry, combinatorial chemical libraries, fermentation equipment); advanced materials (ceramics, composites, metal alloys); medical devices (lasers, intra-ocular lenses, surgical tools, biocompatible composites and alloys, prosthetic implants, stents and heart valves, external support devices); aerospace (complex mechanical, composites, coatings, rocket engines, controllers); semiconductors (fabrication tool technology e.g. chemical-mechanical polishing tools, memory chips); applications software ( business enterprise platforms and related) and Internet-related technologies (e-commerce, on-demand video streaming, online banking, smart card technology).

Shaukat’s legal expertise has earned him peer recognition in Martindale Hubbell: the coveted AV rating, for the highest standards of legal practice and ethical conduct. Shaukat has previously been a partner in multi-state law firms as well as in intellectual property specialized firms.  He has also published articles and coached Law School mock (patent) trial teams.

Shaukat is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law (Austin, Texas) (1987) where he was a Member of a Law Review and his paper was selected for the Best Student Note award.

He also has a B.Sc. (Chem. Eng.) (1973) and an MBA (1978) from The University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Before attending Law School, Shaukat had a career in engineering; a decade of experience that he still considers invaluable in providing insight and perspective in assisting inventors in all areas of technology.
