We’re doing our FAQ, our frequently asked questions series, and I’m excited to share with you one of the fun questions we get. I say it’s fun, but sometimes it’s a little bit annoying because it comes up so often. Inventors seem to think that they have to choose a patent attorney that has the same exact background as they do. So the question is, “Well, you know, you don’t really know my technology, do you? You don’t really get it, and so you’re not the best fit.” The answer to the question is, “Well, yes, we’re trained to do that, and what’s cool is that the research for us to come up to speed with your invention, that’s included in the flat fee that we provide in the service that we provide. We need to take all that you know about your invention. That’s the very first part of this process is called an invention disclosure document, and we document every single aspect of your invention.”

The most interesting thing is, and I’ve talked about this before in previous episodes, is that there’s a value in actually not knowing or not being as specific or in the industry as you, the inventor, because we’re gonna go and ask the dumb questions and help you bring out the fullness of your invention and all the different applications that it might have outside the industry. So it’s so cool to see sometimes when an inventor steps in and looks at the background of the patent attorney or the cases of the clients that we’ve served and sort of assumes, “Well, you don’t necessarily know my technology, do you?” And the truth is, that’s okay. It’s actually good, and it’s gonna help you create a better application in the long run. So if you want to hear more about this and our different take on how we do patent law, I want you to go to our website, go to boldIP.com, or give us a call and set up a consultation today.
